Plum Boro’s 7th Annual Clean-Up Day

Every year in celebration of Earth Day, the Boro sponsors “Plum Clean-Up Day” with Boro staff, residents, families, civic and church groups, HOAs and businesses participating. 

This year’s event took place on Saturday, April 20th.  The chilly morning did not stop approximately 230 volunteers from coming out to help clean up the streets of the Boro.

Volunteers enjoyed a continental breakfast prior to getting their road assignments.  They received supplies including a volunteer t-shirt, gloves, safety vest, and trash bags.  PennDOT, as part of the Keep PA Beautiful Program, supplied the Boro with 200 each of vests, gloves and garbage bags. The Boro also raffled off prizes to those who participated. 

This event is held at no cost to the Boro, thanks to our generous sponsors: Consol Energy, Massaro Corporation, Fahringer McCartey Grey Inc., KU Resources, Noble Environmental, Olympus Energy, and Bruce Dice & Associates.   

In just two-short hours, our volunteers collected: over 240 bags of garbage, 10 tires, 1 stroller, 2 car seats, 1 highchair, 1 mattress, 1 fan, and 10 curtain rods, along with other miscellaneous items.

This annual spring event continues to grow each year as more people take an interest in the opportunity to help beautify our community.
