Injection Well

This page serves as an informational resource for residents looking for information associated with the operation of the Sedat 3A wastewater injection well in Plum.  An injection well is used to place fluid into porous geologic formations.  Injected fluids may include water, wastewater, brine (salt water), or chemicals related to oil and gas drilling, including frack waste water.  Injection wells have historically been used by the oil and gas industry to dispose of wastewater, which has the potential to impact the surrounding environment.  Residents with any concerns regarding the operation of the injection well (e.g. excessive truck traffic, noise, air quality, well water contamination, or impacts to surrounding creeks and waterways) should contact the Borough using this link.

Additionally, informational resources have been provided below for residents looking for assistance in the event they have been negatively impacted by the operation of the injection well.  This includes points of contact for having local water tested and organizations with subject matter experts from advocacy groups that specialize in the area of protecting the environmental and legal rights of residents in Allegheny county.
