About UsRecreationPlum Borough has some of the finest recreation amenities in Western Pennsylvania. Plum owns, operates, and maintains four public park grounds, including two neighborhood parks, one regional park, and one athletic field complex. Throughout the Plum Borough park system there are numerous amenities appropriate for all age groups. The Borough, in conjunction with neighboring Monroeville, has recently opened a regional skateboard and BMX bike park within Boyce Park. Part of the Allegheny County Park System, Boyce Park consists of over 1,000 acres and contains one of the few public ski slopes in Western Pennsylvania. The park also has baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic groves, walking and hiking trails, a nature and interpretive center, and archery field, and a model airplane field. Plum Borough truly has recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Cultural AmenitiesPlum Borough has excellent access to the cultural district in Pittsburgh. Live performances including Broadway musicals, the Pittsburgh Symphony, opera, ballet, and numerous others enhance the quality of life in the region. The proximity of Plum to these cultural outlets further improves our quality of life. Public SafetyPlum Borough can provide citizens and businesses with a high level of security and property protection. Public safety is a concern to residents and business people in all communities, and is another area where Plum Borough excels.
Youth AthleticsPlum Borough is home to numerous youth athletic organizations including the Plum Borough Athletic Association (Baseball), Plum Borough Midget Football, and Plum Soccer Association. Youth Athletics are offered almost year round and over 2,000 youth participants are involved in the various sports within the Borough.
Community EventsThe Plum Borough community hosts two community events annually. Each summer the annual Community Days festival is held during the last weekend of June and consists of craft and food vendors, games, rides, community information booths, demonstrations, and is capped off with an excellent fireworks display. During the winter holiday season, Sugar Plum Days are held with events occurring throughout the community which enhance the holiday spirit within the Borough. Education
WorshipPlum Borough is home to more than 15 churches and places of religious worship of all religious denominations. Regular worship services are held throughout the Borough. Professional SportsPlum Borough is located 15 miles from Downtown Pittsburgh, which is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, Pittsburgh Steelers football, and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey teams. Additionally, minor league and college sporting venues exist within a reasonable drive from Plum. Plum Senior Community CenterPlum Borough id home to the Plum Senior Community Center, which serves the needs of those 55 years of age and older. The Senior Center is open Monday Through Friday with occasional weekend activities. The center provided meals, programs, and fraternizations for the senior population of the Borough. Plum LibraryPlum Borough has recently dedicated a state of the art public library facility to serve the needs of the community. Situated adjacent to the Plum Senior Center, the library is open seven days per week and provides typical library functions as well as internet access and library oriented programming for all age groups. Beautification CommitteePlum Borough's Beautification Committee works to improve the overall quality of life throughout Plum by sprucing up key entrances and intersections throughout the community.
