Coal Miner's Memorial
As you may or may not know, Plum Borough has a rich history of coal mining. The towns of Renton, Barking, Logan’s Ferry and Unity all housed mines and mine workers, which has contributed to this history. We do not want to forget all those who have worked in these mines. Therefore, we have created this structure not only as a memorial, but also as an area to educate children and adults about what it was like to be a miner in the area. There will be displays around the structure as well as a miner’s cart filled with coal so that visitors may place flowers or other artifacts in it. There will also be benches placed inside for individuals to sit and listen.

We are looking for businesses and/or organizations to make a donation to help in the construction of the memorial structure and site. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. In making a donation we will add your name or your business name to the memorial in different levels according to the amount of the donation. We will also be selling pavers to be placed around the structure with miner’s names, dates, etc. or with names of individuals or businesses that have made donations.
