Construction Appeals BoardThe Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (Act 45 of 1999) requires that all municipalities administering and enforcing the Uniform Construction Code must have a Construction Appeals Board in place to hear and rule on appeals, requests for variances and requests for extensions of time to complete a project. The Board shall decide if the true intent of the Uniform Construction Code has been incorrectly interpreted, the provisions of the act or Uniform Construction Code do not fully apply or an equivalent form of construction may be used. The board will also determine if a variance from any section of the building code (with the exception of accessibility) shall be granted. The Uniform Construction Code requires that the Appeals Board be filled with members who are qualified by training and experience to pass on matters pertaining to building construction.
