May 2017 ... On the Agenda

April 2017 Agenda Items

Planning and Economic Development Committee

  1. Motion to amend the existing Borough Property Maintenance Code to adopt updated standards–The Boro adopted and currently enforces the 2009 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code.  The code regulates the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures, by providing the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation.  The ordinance also provides for the issuance of demolitions permits, declaration of unsafe structures and the collection of fees.  The most recent Property Maintenance Code version (adopted in 2012) is now available and the Boro will amend our property maintenance code to reflect these latest standards.

  2. Set a public hearing date and time for the STORExpress Conditional Use Application-the owner of the STORExpress storage facility on rt. 909 has purchased the adjacent property (formerly a bar/restaurant) and is proposing to use this property to expand the self-storage facility.  Self-storage is a conditional use in this zoning district.  The application has been reviewed by the planning commission and the commission has recommended approval.  All conditional uses must be approved by council and a public hearing on the use must be held prior to approval.  The Boro will set the hearing for 6:30 on June 5th, prior to the June work session.

  3. Approve the Sprint Conditional Use Application- The Sprint communications proposal to co-locate a Telecommunications Antenna on the top of the water tower in the Longwood Housing Development was discussed at an advertised public hearing on May 1st at 6:45 pm.  The property is zoned R-3 Residential and the co-location of an antenna is a “conditional use” in R-3.  The applicant appeared before the planning commission and the commission recommended approval

Personnel Committee

  1. Approve a Cost of Living Adjustement (COLA) for a retired police officer–COLA’s are mandated as part of the police Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Council simply must authorize the COLA.  Staff has reviewed the COLA as presented and recommends approval.
