Duquesne Light Meter Exchange Program

Act 129 of 2008 required electric distribution companies with more than 100,000 customers to furnish smart meter technology upon request; in new building construction; and have a full deployment schedule not to exceed 15 years.

On April 15, 2010 the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved a smart meter technology procurement and installation plan for Duquesne Light Co.

Duquesne Light began deploying new meters in September of 2014 in the western part of Allegheny County.  Installations are now starting in the City of Pittsburgh and are scheduled to start in Plum Borough in March of 2016.
